Johor Port Hazardous Cargo Jetty No. 3

project

Completed on December 2002

The project consists of upgrading the existing Jetty No. 3 to berth vessels from 2,000DWT to 80,000DWT. This jetty is originally constructed to berth vessels from 2,000DWT to 40,000DWT and for handling hazardous cargo. During the upgrading of this jetty, the terminal is in full operations. This involves hour by hour co-ordination with the terminal operators.

All the structures are supported by steel pipe piles ranging from diameter 610mm to 812mm and lengths from 27m to 36m. The piles were socketed into granite bedrock by drilling a larger hole and annulus space grouted with non-shrink cement grout. The deck furniture consists of upgraded cell fenders at the loading platform and new quick release hook with capstan at the mooring dolphin. All the steel pipe piles are protected with sacrificial cathodic protection system.

The mechanical & electrical scope of works consist of rectification of hydraulic system for foam tower monitor, installation of gas detectors, fire fighting system and explosion proof flood lighting system with light towers.
